SCORE Adaptive Bridges makes the functionality of existing Delta applications available as Adaptive (able to modify themselves) Services within the framework of a service oriented architecture (SOA), maximizing the reusability of the functionality by new client and middle-tier applications and platforms.

All you need to do to make the functionality of your existing Delta applications available for integration into new client and middle tier applications is to re-generate the online transactional Delta programs using the DC/Presentation Support for SCORE Adaptive Bridges. Absolutely no changes are required in the existing application.

Delta/ADS and ADSplus

ADSplus is Delta's classic platform independent application development solution for online and batch programs. ADSplus enables you to develop, maintain and support your core business applications independent of platform specific considerations such as operating system, database management system and TP monitor.

These organisations have made a strategic decision to maximize their return on investment by integrating and reusing functionality from their existing Delta-applications into enterprise portals and similar projects.

The Solution Pack for Delta Applications enables you to quickly and easily make the functionality of your Delta applications available in enterprise portals and other high-visibility and high-value projects. It is available with SCORE Adaptive Bridges and comprises a combination of software products, documentation and support services, specifically designed and implemented to automate the integration of your Delta applications.

The main software components of the Solution Pack for Delta Applications are as follows:

• DC/Presentation Support for SCORE Adaptive Bridges

The Solution Pack for Delta Applications includes a specific DC/Presentation Support for SCORE Adaptive Bridges to re-generate the existing online transactional programs and their screen definitions as transactional sub-programs. This allows them to be called directly from the Application Adapter generated by SCORE Adaptive Bridges. The sub-program framework is generated to maintain a consistent transactional working environment for the existing application logic.

The screen processing logic is replaced by passing the relevant message areas to and from the application sub-program as additional parameters. The Solution Pack for Delta Applications supports programs that use more than one screen definition.

Transaction and program navigation commands are re-routed to the Application Adapter and then from there to the new client. This approach maintains the sub-program behaviour of the application and allows the client to make decisions about the overall flow of the business process.

• SCORE Adaptive Bridges Discovery Adapter for Delta Applications

When the transactional program and screen definitions are re-generated using the new DC/Presentation Support for SCORE Adaptive Bridges the "Legacy Interface Information" is stored to allow the automatic definition of the legacy interface in SCORE Adaptive Bridges.

The stored Legacy Interface Information contains detailed information about the new call interface to the application sub-program, and provides SCORE Adaptive Bridges with all the interface information necessary for the generated Application Adapter to correctly call the application sub-program at run-time.

The interface information is loaded into the SCORE Adaptive Bridges Composition Model using the Discovery Adapter for Delta Applications.

The Discovery Adapter for Delta Applications analyses the legacy interface information and creates the appropriate Legacy Interface definitions in the Composition Model, with the appropriate data structure definitions, objects, methods and method parameters.

Once the existing application has been re-generated using the new DC/Presentation Support for SCORE Adaptive Bridges, the sub-program appears as a standard COBOL sub-program and is called by the Application Adapter generated by SCORE Adaptive Bridges in the same way as a non-Delta application.

Supported Releases and Target Platforms

The architecture of the Solution Pack for Delta Applications is portable across the different Delta/ADS and ADSplus releases and targets and is implemented using standard macros and processors.

One of the most valuable aspects of Delta/ADS and ADSplus is that they are open and extensible products. Many customers have made extensive changes to the standard macros over the years to build custom frameworks and architectures that exactly meet their project-specific requirements.

It is therefore necessary to review and understand on a customer-specific basis the extent to which standard Delta/ADS and ADSplus macros have been changed to determine the potential impact on the Solution Pack for Delta Applications.
