1. Hot Topic:
    Model-Driven Generator Development

Up until now the development of generators has represented a true revolution, from simple converters up to high-grade adaptive generator development tools. What are, however, the reasons for the usage of generators, how can one categorize them and what role are models playing in all this stuff?

The current article “Model Driven Generator Development” provides answers to these questions and illustrates the current state-of-the-art on this subject. The HyperSenses technology, developed by Delta, provides an example of a model-based approach to developing generators.

2. AOP in Practice:
    Object Cache Implementation

AOP represents an excellent example of the way how academically derived methods can make their way into the commercial mainstream. Despite the continually increasing number of tools and techniques, concrete examples from the real world of the successful usage of AOP are surprisingly still rather rare.

Srini Penchikala, well known as the author of numerous publications in the J2EE area, presents a concrete example of the practical usage of aspect-oriented programming techniques. In his article he presents different AOP implementations of an object cache and subjects them to an in-depth analysis.

3. Our Surf Recommendation:
    Website Containing AOP Blogs

The more aspect-oriented programming techniques are spreading into the commercial mainstream, the technical discussions about their classification in relation to other proved concepts, e.g. component models become more difficult and time consuming.

A Web site containing AOP Blogs provides readable contributions on this theme. They stand out by virtue of their excellent technical quality, the selection of themes and the diverse references. In our opinion this is a much more interesting source than any newsgroup or mailing list we have found so far.
