ESE Conference 2011

How can the rapidly growing need for new software and new software variants be satisfied economically? This was one of the questions that has been answered by interesting lectures, workshops and discussions about software engineering, technologies and methods, quality and management during the three-day ESE Conference 2011 in Zürich. As an international conference on software technology, the ESE Conference, that took place from 12 to 14 April 2011 in Zürich, was addressing in particular software architects, project managers, IT managers, method and process experts.

In his lecture, Rüdiger Schilling answered the question how reusable software can be created in order to be able to react to short-lived products and market cycles in an economic sense.

Generative Concepts for the Platform Zoo – for Instance Mobile-Apps

Mobile apps are a particularly significant example for the general problem of satisfying the constantly growing need for software and software variants. The biggest hurdle is the large number of alternative platforms (Android, iOs, Windows etc.). The already variant-rich development (modular system) for such applications thus gets even more complex by adding another dimension.

Rüdiger Schilling, CEO of Delta Software Technology, explained

  • how this dilemma can be overcome by modern concepts for product lines and model-based generator development and
  • how quality and productivity can be measurably increased in the software development.

ESE Conference 2011: Generative Concepts for the Platform Zoo – Mobile-Apps

Mobile apps are booming and increasingly used in the business environment. The biggest hurdle is the large number of alternative platforms (Android, iOs, Windows etc.). The already varied development (modular system) for such applications gets thus more complex for another dimension.

Mobile apps are a particularly significant and current example for the general problem of satisfying the constantly growing needs of software and software variants.

More about DSLs and Generator Development

The examples from current international projects demonstrate that Mobile Apps are, however, only a particularly concise example for the general problem of variant-rich development. Application areas for domain-specific languages and software generators exist everywhere in the software development – not only in the area of Apps.

Model-driven generative development already pays off for small projects. Refer to our website to get more information:

Workshop

The next workshop on model-driven development of software generators takes place on May 27, 2011.
