Small Helpers Simplify Projects

An improved version of the SCOUT² Development Platform is now available with immediate effect. The new functions simplify project organization and day-to-day development work. They have already proven this in a large customer project.

Collections Bring Order and Clarity

It is commonly accepted that grouping together the elements that are required for a task makes work easier to perform. Our customers use the Collections feature of SCOUT² to group together objects of any type so that they can subsequently be worked on together in a simple and consistent manner.

Working with Collections is now even easier:

• Collections can be created by simply marking the associated elements, or by using custom search expressions and filters.
• Modules can be simply moved using drag & drop.
• The new “Pack” function helps when you are working in a mobile or offline environment. This new function creates so-called Collection Archives that not only contain the files, but also the corresponding logical information (Metadata for the modules). Just as with a suitcase, you take the things you need with you, and then bring them back again. You can consistently combine the modules when you return to the project environment. There are lots of potential uses for this new feature.
• Clarity is also provided by the ability to associate additional information with a module. This information can be displayed in the overview window and accompanies the module throughout its complete lifecycle. It is no longer necessary to embed lengthy comments within the actual source modules (which, in the case of objects types such as DLLs is not possible in any case).

Simplified Information Exchange

Working together and exchanging information are important aspects of working in a project. There are also a range of improvements here:

• Intelligent import functions that automatically recognize the type of module and incorporates the module into a Collection.
• One of your colleagues needs a module? Simply click to send the module by email.
• You need to pass on modules and associated information to other projects? The new “Pack” function delivers all the required information in exactly the right format.

New Script Functions

A range of new script functions are now available for customers that optimize their development process by extending the comprehensive standard functions of the SCOUT² Development Platform using SCOUT² scripts.
